Greetings all, just shouting from my mountain top on how happy I am in my latest dealings with bladesmith Terry Primos. Today concluded about a 15 month wait for the gorgeous el camino I had ordered. I had a discussion with Terry via email all those months ago and had given him the cliff notes version of my first custom order, which left an unpleasant taste in my mouth. I came away very impressed with his integrity and honesty from my very first contact. So, flash forward to a month or so ago... Terry contacts me and says he is getting ready to start my knife, but has been unable to find my original choice for handle material. I had been looking for an uncommon and difficult to find wood. Unfortunately, it was impossible to find. I called Terry on the phone one evening and he was nice enough to chat with me for quite some time even though he had put in full day in the shop and was nursing a cold. I had narrowed down my choice to either desert ironwood or ring gidgee. I ultimately chose desert ironwood and Terry was nice enough to pick out some presentation grade wood that was light. I had expressed concerns about desert ironwood darkening with age and use and Terry had remembered this and opted to go as light as possible.
My whole experience with Mr. Primos has been everything I had hoped it would be. He kept me informed at every step along the way, and was kind enough to take time out of his busy day to talk to me. I whole-heartedly recommend Mr. Primos to anyone who is looking for the perfect custom order experience.
