He sent me pictures. It looks like a tapered tang with a bolt welded at the end for the pommel to screw onto. It looks like the taper goes to the guard, but then there's a more acute flat out to the width of the blade so either the blade is cut down then has the taper or theres a reduced width taper under the guard that then goes to a straight taped the rest of the way. The bolt welded on is about 1 inch long from the looks of it. I don't want to post pictures he sent me unless he wants to.
