print on blades

I sanded the etch off of my Queen D2 Canoe.
It bothered me that much ;)
Nothing like the first rub of 600 grit on a mirror polished blade.
Those etches are *deep*
For a first attempt at this sort of thing, it turned out well.
I took it up to 2000 and while it isn't a buffed mirror, you only notice when you compare it to the other blade

Such is the life of an etch-hater.

Personally, the queen etchings don't bother me at all, I find them rather tastefully done. But the etchings on 'tactical' knives (which are usually rather ridiculous) I do not like at all.

First, you have come into possession of a presentation knife that is not representative of a production RSK Mk1. Be assured its actual owner was not aware of nor ever intended it to be offered for sale. This is absolutely no reflection on you or your purchase, you could not have known. I'd like to see it returned to its original owner, at no cost to you. I have attempted to contact you directly, but cannot do so via the forum interface. Please email me at your earliest convenience at (email edited out)

Second, let me assure you that we do not as a rule inscribe messages on the blades of the RSK Mk1, with the exception of the numbered First Production Run blades, whose purchasers are aware of what they are buying, or a presentation knife such as this. My production RSK Mk1s are made to be used, not read. :)

Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Wow. Email sent. I didn't realize that they all didn't come like that. I actually sold it (yes, I am that picky) and am contacting the recipient so this can get settled.

BTW -- Thanks Doug for responding to the etched message rant. I unfortunately assumed that all of the blades would come with the message. A personal message to an intended recipient is a completely different story. I hope that my post did not influence potential customers based on this incorrect assumption. Please accept my apology.

Your name and no-frills reliable utility are synonymous. I was quite surprised to see the etched message. Now I understand.

Jeff,

All well that ends well. Looks like the knife is going home and that's all that matters. I sincerely appreciate your and the other members' understanding and cooperation.

Now that's out of the way, I must tell you that when I first saw that post I panicked. All sorts of calamities ran through my head, as I didn't think any of the recipients would likely have parted with their knives. The first two things I did when I saw that post was to, 1. Send emails to the recipients of that knife and 2. call Aeromedix and have them go through boxes of production RSK Mk1s to make sure they hadn't somehow inadvertently been inscribed on the latest shipment. When the latter didn't turn up anything I started breathing easier, but I also suspected that when I got the return emails, at least one person wasn't going to be happy. Might be there will be a (former?) girlfriend available... :D OTOH, sometimes stress makes the relationship stronger...

Thanks again.

Doug

Excelent, a manufacturer who gives a fig :)
You all have the wrong end of the stick.
Manufacturers are hoping for a new knife test. "Whilst the lock failed and the edge rolled like a gymnast, throughout the test the ninja death logo remained clear. Ladies and gents we have a winner!! ;)
