Pro line

The only difference I know of is the Pro Line logo and the fact that you get free lifetime sharpening. Preston

Since I sharpen my own knives.....seems like I'd have a net minus if I bought one of those ugly, wordy-bladed knives.

;)

Hey, I don't like the Proline on the blade but at Cabelas you can still get a General 120 for $54.99, for that price I will live with Proline on the blade of a otherwise not avaible knife.

Yeah, that's true....the General is a mighty fine knife. I have been dealing with it by looking for the old 440C Generals on e-Bay. Sometimes you can find a good deal.

Maybe so, but I haven't seen a NIB 120 go for under 90 bucks. Even used ones, with obvious abuse (look like they've been used to dig holes in a gravel road) go for $50+.

I tried getting a good deal, but a clean blade with no logo isn't worth a 40-50 dollar premium in a knife that's gonna be a user. That extra 40 bucks can get me a another nice knife.

Obviously, the old 440C Generals are worth more so you pay more. Some are worth a lot more.

That's the way it works. They're also more fun to buy and own. You don't always have to buy NIB anyway.

There's also been a bit of a craze for Generals lately and prices have gotten a little nuts.

If everyone hates the logo- has anyone ever tried to remove it?
Xylol? Acetone?
My wife uses a Pro line Alpha folder and loves it and the etch. (sirusly) :D
I dont mind it but I don't have any with that etch....

Because those of us who hate it haven't bought one?

:D

Yeah, I kinda missed the boat on that one. I really haven't been trying lately because they've been going so high. That was a good one.

You should reread post #3 and #7...

I mean the guys that have one, that don't like the etch... :D

I think I could live with the one in this link, you just have to be watchful.

Well worth it -IMHO.

It's a great knife. I just put a bag over her face.
I also have a pre '86 120 that I got for about $50 that is in awesome shape.
But then again, I've got Chickens in low places, where the whiskey flows and the beer chases the auctions away....so I think I'll stay.
