Problem drilling 5160

Been there many times. I work in a machine shop. What I refer to is "glaze & grind",
that is when the hole you are gets glazed you grind. I use a dremel with a small stone,
coarse, and just remove the glaze very quickly. Just a few touches is all it takes,
don't let it get hot. Sometimes you can get away with using a carbide ball on a dremel or die grinder, 1/8" common size. Diamond coated bits are also available in all sorts of sizes and shapes.

Then drill your hole. Good Luck

Good tips, thanks. Since small bits work fine and I only wanted to drill larger holes for balance sake where the`d be hidden by the grip scales I temporarily solved the problem by making them with the "HOT drill",in other words where there`s a torch there`s a way.

I will have to address the problem in the future though so I appreciate all the advice. Marcus
