Problem of no backspacer

Have any of you guys ever had a problem with loose change, carried in the same pocket as your knife, entering thru the back of a knife that has no backspacer and jamming up your blade during opening? It has only happened with knives with the barrel spacers....never with a closed back knife. I try to remember during the course of the day not to drop change in that pocket....but sometimes I forget. It doesn't happen every time, though.

I don't carry a knife that is below 185 bucks (will change soon because I got a sweet custom from a maker for more or less the cost of material and labor). There's no way in hell I'm dropping anything except my knife in the pocket. When my knives wear, I like it to be from use, not something like change, keys, what-have-you floating around in the same pocket. Maybe if I had a beater knife I wouldn't care so much.

Same here. Knife and phone in one pocker, keys and change in the other.

leaving loose coins & keys in same pocket as open back knife is an invitation to lose keys.
most of us have 4 pockets so how dumb can we be.

knife gets clipped to the same pocket as my wallet. change is for suckers, i put everything on my debit card.

Unless I forget (and I haven't), no change or keys will ever be in the same pocket as my knife. Nor do I put two knives in the same pocket. Occasionally, I'll put a traditional folder (like a stockman or sodbuster) alongside my wallet, or alongside a leather notepad I keep in the back pocket. Nothing but leather and/or paper to rub against my knife, in that case.

My knife pocket carries the clipped knife, some ATM/Credit Cards rubberbanded together and cash. Nothing else. I never carry change on my person. Change goes in my change bag in the truck.

My phone has a 4" touch screen, in an Otterbox case with a screen protector. The knife doesn't hurt the phone, and the phone certainly doesn't hurt the knife. I ride a bike everywhere too, so it's not like I'm taking special care to keep things from jostling around. The large size of the phone and the rubber of the case keeps the phone in place. Unlile my prevoius, smaller phone, which eventually had a cracked screen for reasons that should be obvious given the context of this discussion.

I solved this problem a long time ago. I simply carry only the knife clipped in my pocket, nothing else goes in, therefore no change to jam things up. Now in my left pocket I carry a slipjoint, but never have a problem with change in it.

Happens to me. Having a clip does nothing to alleviate it, since it only happens to my knives that have barrel spacers - which all have clips.

I figured out years ago that change will eventually work itself into your knife, backspacer or not. The knife gets carried in its own pocket with nothing else. Problem solved.

My brother carries a Sebenza in the bottom of his pocket, no clip. He does get the occasional coin stuck.

He throws everything in there with it. Doesnt bother him a bit. The knife hasnt said a word either.

Hmmmm, I don't know how expensive your knives are, but I don't put mine in the same pocket as my $600 phone

I figure a $400 phone can ride shotgun next to a $500 folder. They're just sitting in my pocket. They're not dueling to the death in there. :D
