When you open the spring lock is fixed so tightly that it can hardly be overcome. And you have to make a push with your finger, help solve the problem. I really like the knife, but this problem is greatly upsets me.
I also found the compression lock very stiff and difficult to disengage on my Para 2 when I first got it. Not surprising on a new knife and certainly not unexpected on a DLC blade like mine. It gradually wore in and became easier, but would tighten up again any time I played with the pivot and/or body screws. No biggie. Once I found the 'sweet spot' on the pivot, the lock soon broke-in nicely.
I recommend you make all of your screw adjustments for deployment, blade-play and centering first, then use your thumb to disengage the lock until it wears in a little. Won't be long before your doubts evaporate... just be patient and hold off adding more gunk and goo to it. It *will* settle.
Hope this helps!
