Problem with my current EDC

What exactly are you doing with your 440C blade that's causing it to go dull so quickly? That's a decent steel. It's sounds like you're putting it through some pretty hard use on a regular basis, which suggests some form of specialized use. If you give use a better idea of what you're doing with it, we might be able to give better answers.

Opening boxes, cutting cardboard, general utility.

Sorry for my slow response and thanks for all the help. It is 440C. I'm looking for something 3.5"-4", tip up, price limit is $200, I'd like a tiger stripe pattern but not a deal breaker, and ofcourse something in a SV30 or better.

440C and it dulls quickly??? You have never mentioned the make and model of your knife. Can you please do that. I am more than just curious now.

Guess I was wrong Rifon and I apolgize. I sure don't understand it though. Simple6, please tell what knife you are currently carrying?
Thanks

You might consider a Spyderco British Racing Green Endura generation 4 with ZDP-189 blade steel. Soon to be released.

All the best,

True. In my experience, you're not going to notice any substantial difference between good 440C and any of the "brand name" stainless steels, except maybe BG-42.

If you want something where you'll see and feel a difference, I suggest going to a tool steel - D2, M2, A2.

I've been unimpressed with most of the 440C blades I've seen.

I know a lotta folks will disagree with me here, but I've always been partial to AUS-8. I have a number of AUS-8 blades, and they all cut VERY well and stay sharp -- especially the fully serrated ones.
