Problem with new Buck 110?

Where is ChickenTrax... He would be saying "send $37.95" to my paypal account. :D

If you ever decide to lower a blade into the well by grinding the kick, just remember to go slow and check your progress often...a little bit off moves the tip a lot!
I just did this with a 110. Grinded the kick to lower the high tip into the handle more. How much grinding is too much?

How do I know if the edge is hitting the back of the knife, dulling the blade?

Kick that I grinded down.

A file won't help you much...it will just skip along the steel...a dremel with a small sanding drum works well...or a small grey grinding wheel...also a diamond coated sharpener could be used like a file...it's really not a tough job...but one that's easy to overdo and have the blade edge hitting the rocker bar if you go too far...good luck Doug...I think exchanging it was a good choice though...it's brand new after all...
“Rocker bar!” Thats the term I was looking for. I don’t want to grind the kick down so far that the blade edge is hitting the rocker bar
Kick that I grinded down.

Well Ka_Bar_ Big _ Brother, If you need an answer that is all that matters,
If after grinding the kick and the blade tip is in the blade well, try pushing down on the blade and if it can be pressed down more and it hits the rear spacer you have taken enough material off the kick and the blade won't hit the spacer. Do a little at a time as to not over do it. If you can't press the blade any and it does not pop up a bit you took too much off the kick. If it bothers you send it in to Buck for a new blade replacement, I believe a new blade will cost $10, call to check. It will be a different year blade.

the problem with pulling up decade plus old threads is bg42 edge has been banned 3 times under different names. plumberdv ( R.I.P.) we lost. Doug s hasn't been here since 2012.

other jb and packrat are still here. so that's good. sitflyer hasnt been on the boards since Feb. he may see the notice he may not. it's almost always better to start a new thread vs. pull one up over a decade old......

I tried to send you a PM but couldn't. I'm sorry to say that sitflyer is also no longer with us. I won't post a link here but there was a dedication thread about him in the Traditionals forum. I urge you to look it up . The very first post has a picture of him that speaks volumes of the fun loving man that he was.

Looks like I didn't grind too much away. This gives me peace of mind. Thanks Abe!

I donno JB.... some of these ancient threads have good info that may not show up in a new thread. And show some of the fun from back then.

I stuck a Gret Snap in one the other day. No one keyed on it. We used to have a lot of fun with Gret snap, and her sister Lak snap and their cousin Pat Pend. Good Times!
