purplehaze posted a Michael Morris knife for sale today at 1:10 AM forum time. I posted I would take it at 2:53 AM. I also sent him a PM to that effect, as he requested in his listing. FWIW, I have great feedback on this forum. I stayed logged in to BF, but started watching a movie and then went to bed. Today I learned that purplehaze posted that I hadn't responded, and the knife was back up for sale, at 2:56 AM:

THREE MINUTES AFTER I SAID I WOULD TAKE IT.

This is unbelievable, and unacceptable. I don't know what the rule is (if there is one) for how long an "I'll take it" is good for, but 3 minutes is a joke.

I understand your frustration, but in any sales thread I create I specify the following: "I reserve the right to do business with whom I choose--as do you."

My advice: forget it and move on. Put him on your ignore list if you like. Don't let his poor form sour you.

You're actually wrong about that 3 minute thing - he made a post 3 minutes later (likely saying It's Yours or something along those lines), but then edited it at 3:17PM ( 12 hours and 20 minutes later) saying that you didn't respond and it was back up for sale.

Staying logged in like that was your fault. It looked like you were online, not following through with a reply, or making the payment. Also, you didn't come back until after it was sold so I guess he had good foresight that you wouldn't be paying for 24 hours.

Of course, I think he should have gave you more time - but I would have put it back up by the time it sold. Get over it dude.

ETA- I thought it was 20 minutes, but it was 12 hours and 20 minutes - 3PM

A seller can sell or not sell to whomever they want. This is not an issue really. Read the majority of sales threads, the terms state that almost uniformly across the board. I see MMAR nailed it. Sometimes people expect payment immediately or within a reasonable amount of time. Don't take it personally, that is the important part. I've read through his posts and honestly I don't see him being malicious anywhere. Kind of a cheap shot to start a thread like this IM o.

Since you have decided to take your attitude from PMs to here, I want to clarify the situation. You posted an Ill take it at 02:53 in my sales thread for a Michael Morris fixed blade. I responded to you via PM at 02:55 with my Paypal address and marked the thread at 02:56 that is was SPF. I then awaited payment from you, but you logged off. Maybe you don't realize that checking your profile will show when you are active and the little green dot next to your name indicates if you are online. At 1547, I noticed that you still had not sent payment, nor bothered to communicate with me despite you being active on the forums a few hours earlier in the day.

At 15:46 I sent you a PM starting that since I have not heard from you, that I was putting the knife back up for sale but if you were still interested to please let me know with payment. I did not hear from you until a few hours ago with your condescending PM about learning patience. You have since sent multiple PMs to me in short order trying to start an argument, despite telling me that you don't get PM notifications.

Communication is key, you had over 12 hours to send payment or at least acknowledge my PM to say payment is delayed. It would have taken you less than a minute to send a message. I have close to 100 positive feedbacks with most of them stating that I have great communication. It's not really that hard to understand how to handle yourself when buying/selling/trading and the only way to complete a deal on the internet is by communicating.

PurpleHaze........................

Patience is a virtue, and you showed patience........... Try not to let it get under your skin.

When I saw his original complaint thread, I did not even bother to open it.

I saw this, and took a moment to see what the real deal was.

Add him to the list of people you won't sell to (as will most others who see this), and we can all keep on doing what we were doing before.

I just sold a knife to a member with very low post counts and no feed back. He managed to send payment in moments, and maintain great contact.

You were not listing that knife for his benefit. You were trying to sell it.

Reminds me of a time I sold a truck for next to nothing (the price of the brand new tires was not even covered, let alone the running engine, and all the extras.....it needed clutch work).

I received hundreds of instant "I'll take it's", but it went to the first guy to call me and arrange a meeting. I was still getting messages about it months and months later.

What is the old saying "you snooze, you loose?"

I have given people months to pay, when it was pre arranged, but if you drop an I'll take it, be ready to check right back and get your money to the person you want something from.
