problem with sog aegis

I've got a CRKT Montu and a Benchmade Aphid (original Red Class version) literally right in front of me, and both have zero blade play in lockup. I have a Whirlwind that I've used consistently for 5+ years with no blade play. If they do have play? 2 seconds and a torx driver fixes it, no problems.

SOGs develop unfixable blade play over time. The Flash I had that I tried to get warranty service on would either be way too tight and not open, or open and have noticeable side to side play in lockup. There was no middle ground. This is not a unique circumstance either, as I've heard from plenty of other people that this was the case with their knives as well (even Nutnfancy admits in his reviews the blade play issues). The line I got from SOG was "that's normal and not covered under warranty". Considering the CS you can get from Kershaw, CRKT, Buck, Spyderco, even Gerber, that's a slap in the face.

Yep two worst ao's I own are sogs. A trident that has both vertical blade play, and regardless of pivot tightening develops side to side play. I have to tighten it up again and a few openings and it loose again and blade play is back. Then an xl twitch. No matter how I adjust the pivot, side to side blade play is always there. Even if I tighten the pivot so the blade can't open under spring power, the blade play remains. Other than the poor execution everything else seems fine with them, but for the prices paid, no more sog folders for me ever again.
