I got a new Tenacious and Persistence this weekend and they seems like good knife but I ran into a problem on both when I tried to move the clip I was using a 1.5mm allen wrench and basically all the screw heads but one rounded out and now I cannot remove the clip.

As most everyone else would say...send it back to Spyderco. They'll make it right. Contact them first.

Unfortunately this is an easy thing to do, especially with allen screws. You will have to see if you can get some new screws from Spyderco, or you will have to figure out what the screw size is and buy some new screws. I know people have measured these screws before and can tell you where to get new ones, but if they don't chime in and you can't figure it out I'll try to dig up an old thread on Spyderco's forum about screw sizes for you.

The problem is obvious. The screws are Torx head, not allen socket. you may have to cut straight slots in the heads to get the old screws out and buy new ones.

I am not worried as much about them making it right as I am 5 screws out of 6 rounding out with little effort. Now either I used the wrong sized wrench which is my fault or these screws are way to soft.

I also had problems with this knife. I have hard time reading it, the screws are soft and easily damaged. Clip I too was unable to remove the first time.

had a screwdriver to put a piece of cloth. I have my knife so it could tell.

This happened to me as well with my Tencaious..2/3 screws were out and when it got to the last one it was rounded out with my allen wrench...just put the other 2 screws back in and settled with tip down...Think the screws are a bit soft, don't think we did anything wrong.

Also, from what I remember, there seemed to be some sort of thread locker on the screws from the factory. I was VERY careful to reposition my clips.

Mine has Torx. Pardon me for assuming that was standard. :o
Well, FWIW, the clip screws on my Tenacious are also Torx, T-6 to be precise.

Both my Persistence and Tenacious have Allen head screws, and they are VERY soft. When i first got mine i wanted to change the clip position, i managed to loosen 2 but the third rounded out. In the end i managed to get it loosened and changed the position, but its not something i would like to do again.

Yep, me too. I've had my Tenacious for a while now and just got my little Persistence in yesterday and had zero problems moving the clip with my Torx driver.

That Husky tool that Mark mentioned in post #13 is very handy for any Spydie fan.

The thing is, it can be hard to see the difference between a small Torx like a #6 and an Allen socket without a magnifying glass, and the usual result of trying to use an Allen wrench to remove a Torx screw is a rounded out Torx head screw. Been there, done that. If I were going to bet on what happened, that's where my money would be. 184 Spyderco knives and I have yet to see an Allen head clip screw on one.
