I am making a knife for a lady hunter and I put a pink g10 handle. I am having problem getting the black off of the handle. I useack grease bar for
buffing with the sisal buffer and greeen for the cloth buffer. Any help of suigestions on this problem would be greatly appericated.

Thanks LeroyK

I use something like paint thinner to get it off of gemstone and similar materials. I actually forgot what it is because it was put in a container years ago next to the buffer, but it was some kind of mild paint solvent. I don't know what would react with / dull G10, but you can always re-buff, and I don't think paint thinner will completely eat up the handle material.

Warm water and dish soap has worked best for me, for cleaning light colored G10.

Same.

The stuff is pretty chemically inert. Use a product designed to remove whatever is on it. The solvents in wd-40 are probably good for the (usually) waxy binder in compounds.

I'd be surprised if you can't remove the compound with something simple.

Also, if it's stubborn, a toothbrush will help a lot.

Thanks for all the good advice. I think I will try the detergent first and if that does not work, will try wd40 the g10 i am using shows a pattern like wood grain when ground.
thanks again Leroyk

After you get it all clean up... you probably will want to put some WD40 on the G10 anyways. It gives it a nice clean sheen

I have had good luck cleaning my G10 and light colors but polished micarta with a quick wipe of nail polish remover. I assume it's the acetone that makes it work so well. I have not seen any negative effects yet.
