Problems with new ET

My friend just got a new ET yesterday. The blade keeps hitting the spring when it closes, and it already has a small chip in the blade. How can I fix his knife, or should he just send it in?

Send it back in. This issue has been mentioned before. They're tight tolerances, and when this happens it needs an adjustment.
