Procrastination hurts....

Yeah, I now have to pay tax, I have noticed.

I wonder if they just started taxing everybody.......Buck has no presence in my state.

When Buck changed the way they were issuing bcci discounts a few years ago. I called emailed Buck and given a promo id.
That id worked on everything except limited editions that were already marked down. , web specials, custom shop and boy scout knives. They coupon code never expired and limited you to 5 items for each purchase.
I usually buy spitfires , because i edc them and break the tips alot and i refuse to send them for warranty because its misuse,or i will buy hats and accessories and give them out. Thats usually what i use the code for.
Earlier in the year however they did have a bunch of limited edition knives come out and I was able to pick up a couple.
They have since changed the codes. It doesnt work on cutlery , which is bummer i was looking forward to and elk set for when i get my new home. or any of the other mentioned items and i have not tried to use it.

We have other resellers on here that sell authentic Buck knives. Paying members. Buck knives for sale section etc. I don't think I have seen a clone knife except maybe 110 autos, . I have seen some knives on bay that aren't buck knives at all, but are easy to spot. Buck has done a great job keeping those off the web.
The 60 percent off should bring prices just under market value. 60 percent might be employee pricing.

The 60% sounds like a lot but the website prices are so inflated that it doesn't really get you the great deal you might expect.

On most knives the big box discount stores and best internet prices are close to your discounted price......

But, like I said, once in a while something comes along and I buy.

The real advantage is that you are buying direct from Buck so you know you're getting the real thing.

No presence? I'm curious what that means.
usually means no location or physical building or operation in a state. which makes collecting sales tax for that state a bit odd unless they are actually sending the tax to that state. if not means they are just keeping it as more profit.:)

There was some discussion here about the sales tax change a few years ago. I think it may have to do with where a Buck dealer or distributor is located. If they are in your state then Buck has to charge you sales tax.

It's like when Sportsmans Warehiyse closed their store here in Roanoke. I could continue to order off their website with no tax. Several years pasted and they actually reopened the store here in the same building. After that even if the item was shipped to my home I had to pay the tax since they once again had a presence in my state.

not so sure about having a dealer in the state as buck doesnt own that dealer. having a location or store that sits in the state and does business. yep on the business in that state.

Yes, it would have to be an operation OWNED by Buck.....not just a Buck dealer......there are lots of those all over.

I suspect that individual states can ask Buck to collect sales tax for them.

I suppose I should have asked Buck about it, but I never cared that much about the few dollars each time........

But maybe by now there's quite a few dollars accumulated? Maybe I'll check with them. They could owe me quite a bit.

:D

Retail I have found to be 40% off of msrp. I don't know what the club discount is, but 60% seem to fit. I wanted to use my club discount for a 110 auto but I'm not active duty or law enforcement.

Several years ago it paid to order , in dark ages by mail, then online as no sales tax was charged. Then the hammer fell and if a company had a store in your state you got sales tax. I started paying for Cabelas, Gander Mountain, Bass Pro and of all things REI. At the time I blamed the mall culture. Now you see your email order with sales tax from those and many other stores. If your not seeing it then the site does not have a store in your state. That's my understanding of this tax situation.

I used the older member discounts a few times and found the prices to be better than retail. The last code I received was good for 5 knives, excluding limited editions, customs, etc. I had held onto it for some time. I went in a couple months ago and it was still active. I waited hoping the 110 auto would become available. Over the holidays, I tried it and it's no good. I'm pretty bummed about it.

Can we get new ones? Is the program over? I haven't heard much about it since that change some time back.

Yes, give them a call. They'll get you a new number.

Apparently they have set a limit of five knives per number.

Also.......I think your number can be cut off because you bought clothing or whetstones or whatever.

The fine print says "five items per year."

These things change, so call them up and ask questions......like I didn't.

:)

As of right now......none of the new PRO numbers for 2018 are working.

They say this should be fixed soon and are hoping it will be within a few days. For now, just call them and they'll do the 60 percent discount on the phone.

Oh......and the answer to the sales tax question is that Buck's retailers were complaining that they have to charge sales tax and it's unfair for Buck to sell the knives tax-free.

So......there's the answer.

Buck collects it on all knives for every state that has a sales tax.

""Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's".

:)
