Designed by Larrin and the folks at Pop’s.

Low alloy, tungsten vanadium nickel steel. High attainable hardness. Easy to forge, grind and finish.

Better toughness than older tungsten vanadium alloys.

Flexible heat treating.

Maybe Larrin Larrin will post some more information on this new steel.

Because of the nickel content it can be used in pattern welded damascus for the bright layers.

More to come.

Cool! If he's doing side projects, I'd love to see what he could come up with for the best knife steel that maximizes hamon potential...

That is easy to do on paper, but hard to do in a factory. .84% carbon and 99.16% iron. It is nearly impossible to do this, though.

The tiny amounts of Si, P, and S are acceptable because they don't really affect much in their minute percentages. The Mo is the issue. Hitachi #1 white has .3%. This is about as low as you can push it. At that percentage, it makes a great hamon. The biggest feature of Hitachi #1 white is zero Cr, V, W, etc. These elements make stronger steel, but less active hamons.

I've been waiting on an official post on this. I'm at pop's fairly regularly and couple people have talked about it coming out. I've been waiting for a knife steel nerds vid and this is the first official thing I've heard about it. Work better with 80crv than 1084/15n perhaps? Maybe works better with cruforge? Idk. I'm just an idiot, but it's fun to watch in real time. I appreciate the work that goes into it and I enjoy seeing the process from the outside. Look forward to people nerding out on it and making cool stuff.

MagnaCut and ApexUltra have been released, Pop’s ProCut is coming out today. MagnaMax is supposed to be available this year. NioMax was the first steel I started working on but it has never had a wide release.

Where's Apexultra being sold, I was looking for before, but every place was out?
I wasn't sure if it was official yet?
Thanks.
