Product Review Request

There was a several threads of it here in this forums and at edcforums.com. Just go to google type in peanut lighter site: bladeforums.com

It's okay, but lacks any wind protection. A couple mini Bics scattered around your gear is a better bet. Add a firesteel too, for maximum CYA.

I have both the chrome and stainless models, the stainless is well made but the chrome (over brass i think) is a little lighter. I wish they made an anodized aluminum one that would be even less weight (the lighter innards unfotunately don't fit in the aluminum 'pill cases' you see around).

the size is great, but as mentioned, it has no wind protection.

also dries up rather quickly.

How does it dry up quckly? Its sealed with an o-ring.
Or do yyou mean it consumes a lot of fuel.

In my experience they do not dry up, if tightly screwed shut. In fact to test this we filled one and stored it 6 months: still lit!! Try that with a Zippo! But, they hold relatively little fuel so they do run out.

I have a few strewn around just for the fun of it. I'd rely on my Bics in survival kit before I'd rely on the peanut. But I like the peanut! And, I can light TinderQuick with just the spark from the peanut, if the peanut is out of fuel.

I agree - but I had to replace the o-ring with a more substantial one. I edc the peanut lighter attached to my SAK farmer. A bic is more reliable - and a firesteel even more reliable still. But it's functional.

I like them because you can dunk them in water and they still work right away without messing with them. I made a video test of one compared to a bic and a butane lighter that is around here somewhere.

They can also tail stand very easily, and you don't have to hold down the gas lever to keep them lit like a bic. As far as how much fuel they carry, it is a decent amount, but it won't last forever. One of these days, I'll fill one up, light it, and see how long it goes just to see how much fire you can get out of it. All that said, I carry both a mini bic and a peanut lighter in my kit, along with a firesteel.
