Production folder under $100 in CPM-154?

That blur is listed with 154CM everywhere else I've seen it and Kershaw does not list it on their site. Who knows what it is.

If you are referring to the green and purple Blur, you have to be kidding.

There is a Buck 110 with a CPM154 blade on the big auction site for $99 buy it now.

Not deal spotting because they are looooooong gone, but when the 110 was on sale in CPM154, I got 2 of them for $70 total, shipped.

:D

The Blur is certainly an example. Unfortunately, I've had bad experiences with assisted openers that lack a flipper.

I hear there used to be a CPM154 Buck 110.

The Buck 110 with CPM154 was originally sold through Bass Pro Shops. It has been discontinued. Buck then released some through their website. Those are also gone. Secondary markets are now the only source.
In my opinion, the best 110 ever, except maybe a Custom shop with BG42.

I guess you also have the new QRTERMASTER knives or whatever they're called (a spinoff brand of Mantis), they're supposedly CPM-154 but who knows with Mantis previous reputation for lying about steels.

http://www.trugrit.com/CPM154HeatTreatSpecs.pdf According to crucible it's as tough as s30v with less wear resistance and better grindability. Looks like its grindability is way higher than 154CM's.

"CPM 154 is CPM-manufactured version of Crucible’s standard 154 CM. The CPM manufacturing process produces a uniform distribution of the carbides in this grade, giving this CPM 154 easier grinding and polishing, plus better toughness, than conventional 154 CM, while retaining similar heat treat response and wear properties. CPM 154 offers better corrosion resistance, better wear resistance and better hot-hardness than 440C, plus higher toughness. For knifemakers, it offers better edge retention and chipping resistance than 440C."

I wonder why it's not used more often. It has very desirable traits.

Hmm, that data sheet from Crucible seems to contradict all of the anecdotal evidence that CPM-154 holds an edge better than S30V (and certainly better than standard 154CM). I wonder if it all has to do with how its hardened? CPM-154 seems to be run harder than 154CM and S30V more often than not, which might explain it.

yeah, crucible's data sheet doesn't specify at what hardness both steels are, that might have something to do with their performance difference on the sheet.

If it has better edge retention and better grindability than s30v I don't see why it isn't used more often. Is it more expensive than s30v?

The money saved on belts would offset the higher cost of CPM-154 over 154CM so at least on paper it seems like a better choice than 154CM.
