What is a good small production knife for fruit. I thought about the Cold Steel Master Hunter or SRK. It has to be small, not too expensive and fixed blade.

A paring knife?
Standard Vic folders such as the tinker or recruit are awesome for food / fruit and would be my recommendation if he could live with a folder.Another vote for the Victorinox paring knife. They come in plain edge or serrated. The one I use is a plain edge.
You don't need a hunting or survival knife for cutting fruit. Another one of my best fruit cutters is a simple (folding) Swiss Army knife. In general with most fruit, the thinner the blade the better, unless maybe we're talking coconuts or something.
