Production knives that you paid full MSRP for

We all so used to the fact that the purchase price of the production knife is a lot below MSRP, and sometimes I wonder if there is a reason to put a much higher price tag if knife is offered by dealers at a deep discount right from the pre-order stage of sales.

Take highly anticipated Spyderco Military for example.
MSRP: $349
Pre-order price: less than $200
You save: $150+ !!! X-mas came early (knife isn't even out yet)

I understand the discount offered by online dealers, because they have less operational expenses than local stores, but still... not that much. To me MSRP means pretty much nothing. I think it is just an advertising trick and a way to justify a future markup, if knife is a limited production or sold out everywhere else.

Well anyways, just want to see if anybody paid a full MSRP for a knife that was still in production. I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of CRK, Striders and such, but I more interested in Spydercos, Benchmades, Kershaws etc.

I bought a Spydie Stretch II in ZDP from the outlet store in Golden. Turns out it wasn't supposed to be released yet, so I ended up getting one of the first (after Sal) of them. But I paid over $200 for it; they can be had for considerably less.

I paid more than I should have on another trip to the outlet store for a Street Beat. The outlet store is cool, but prices aren't street price.:o

I would never pay MSRP for anything unless forced too or the MSRP was a fair price IMO ...for example I would for a spyderco mule.

Paid full MSRP for my small Sebenza
Only way to get it though, unless you go through the forums or something

It's probably a good thing I don't live near the Spyderco Outlet store, lol.

Most of my purchases are online. I don't remember when or if I've ever paid full msrp for a quality production knife.

I don't think the SFO sells everything at MSRP. I got an endura for $90 from the SFO while MSRP is around $120

Years ago I picked up my Microtech UMS from a sporting goods store. I saw it and flipped out I had to have it. It was the knife that really got me into knives, if you know what I mean. It's the one knife I have that i know I'll never sell...and not just because I paid retail ;)

I've paid MSRP for all of my Randalls ordered from the shop, which is actually quite a bit less than "street value." Whether Randalls qualify as production knives is debatable, though.

I've never paid full MSRP for a true production knife.

Got antsy for a Spyderco Tim Wegner Jr. back in 2001 and paid list price ($115.00) for one at a local knife store - turned out to be worth every penny since the Wegner Jr. was discontinued shortly after I bought mine and it is one of my all time favorite knives.

a couple from my local knife store. Payed like 80 bucks for 30 dollar knives...great deal:barf:. I was young and stupid then and was not able to buy online having no credit card..

sebenza and a BM 32. the 32 only because then I didn't know about good online knife stores, AND with CRK's, if you buy em new from a store, they're all full MSRP
