I like the looks of this knife but the price is a bit above my budget. Sooo, will there be a production version???? I am still looking for a great looking, quality, neck knife.

(As you are already producing the folder, this seamed like the place to ask.)

There is some info on this about 2 weeks back in the forum. I don't remember the exact title, but I think I'm the thread originator.

In choosing designs for factory production, Outdoor Edge's focus is on functional models that will sell well over the long term.

Although the Krait neck knife is a very good and practical design, the neck knife market in general seems to be a current trend which already shows signs of fading.

Another problem is S&W knives has just introduced a neck knife design that is amazingly similar to the Krait design. Sales reports for this model have only been fair.

From a production standpoint there is no question we could produce a quality version of this design at a reasonable price. Unfortunately from a marketing standpoint I don't believe it would be successful item over the long term.

A production knife company needs to invest from $30,000-$50,000 on R&D, tooling and marketing to bring one new item to market. This is why Outdoor Edge chooses to produce only funtional and practical designs that will stand the test of time.

We are now in the R&D stage of producing Darrel's Apogee design in a titianium framelock. Keep your eyes on the Forum for more news. It should be out this Spring.
