I don't know what the angle is on the swedge, but I don't think it would take much to get it very sharp. There is just a little under 1/3rd of the swedge that is not covered by the handle in the closed position. I guess you could sharpen the part that is enclosed and make the blade a better "sticker", but I would think it is a good sticker as is. My cutting needs are such that I will not have to take the Umnumzaan to it's limits, unless something happened that made that nessesary(?), so I'll probably leave the swedge alone.
