Production XM-18 Blade Grind Question

Yes, at the end of the Gen 3 XM-18 3.5" there were some with the production slicer blades.

Non flipper? Not sure, I don't believe I have seen any but that certainly doesn't mean there wasn't any. I have seen pics of a few of them, they were all flippers.

You can not purchase a blade alone, only the complete knife. This is specifically noted on their website:

That's too bad. I've been EDCing my XM-18 for over 2 years and the blade is starting to shrink from daily use and sharpenings every couple of weeks. I'd hoped to get it re-bladed in around a year or so since the handle and everything are like new.

If anyone spots a 3.5" tumbled, spanto, "blade only" - please PM me. I saw one in the exchange a month or two ago either here or at the Green place. Shoulda bought it. It might not match the lockbar on mine properly though? Tricky business. I'll wait a year and PM Rob - maybe they'll have something laying around I can fit in my chassis. ;)

Wow. God bless ya' can't say I ever had that situation. That is Love! Carry and use enough to actually wear one out. What are you sharpening on? Once I get an edge where I want it, not much material gets removed on touchups and I think I sharpen pretty often.

I use DMT dia-folds or DMT benchstones. Mine will get pretty darn dull after cutting up a large cardboard box or two along with anything else that needs some help in opening. I strop but it usually isn't enough to get it really sharp. I like it newspaper cutting sharp and hate snagging anywhere, so sometimes it takes a little longer to get it just right.

The blade's not tiny or anything but about "a bevel size" worn off when I look at it with a new one behind it. It's still got plenty of life left in it.

I'm with you. My three tests are Does it wanna grab/cut my thumb pad. Will it shave my arm. Does it cut newspaper easily and cleanly. If it passes those three, its good to go.
Once I went for whittling a hair but that was just to see if I could do it.
Did you stick with 20*-22*?

I don't know bro, I been using bench stones. I'd guess it's about the 40° + angle.

Yes, that's what I meant (40*+inclusive) seems like a safe angle maybe 18*-22* a side. I went 15* on my one EDC. It is a robust blade
large belly FFG and 189-ZDP at like 64 rw.
For harder use knives that's too thin.

Just before replacing my textured carbon scale with the pond, I wicked edged my Spanto at 22/ side. It is silly sharp and holding surprisingly well. I was using a sharpening steel on the factory grind every couple days to keep her uber-sharp. After the Wicked treatment, I have yet to touch it up and it"s been about a week.

Multiple BooYahs in your general direction.... for 22* per side on a Spanto, for new scales, for a WEPS system and having an uber-sharp edge!

BTW; BooYah is a Good thing, Really Good

First, thank you
Second, are you a fan of Mad Money? Before GE sold CNBC my television didn't leave that channel till the sunset. Now, not so much. They gutted my favorite Fast Money and that still stings a bit.
Ok, I'm way off topic. I apologize to all.
