Professional Knife sharpener in Houston, Tx

I have a custom knife that was given to me about 11 years ago that was made by gorden Johnson. I do not know what type of steel was used but I can't seem to get the edge that I want. I am trying to put a convex edge on it but it goes through sandpaper faster than I can buy it. I figure that I am not doing something right so I would like to get in contact with a pro sharpener in Houston that I can take the knife to and maybe learn what I am doing wrong. Any Suggestions?
