Profiling My Blades

sounds like your set! take it slooow. its easy to get in a rush! and be very careful with the buffer...those things are dangerous as f.

I worked in a pawn shop for 8 years. I used a similar buffer there. It took me 5 years to quit letting the wheel grab whatever I was buffing and send it, like a bullet, into my fat gut. Thankfully, I did learn. Yes, they are dangerous. And, more so if it's a sharp piece of steel coming at you. I will be careful.

Some good advice here.

I gave up on the abrasive wheel chop saws. I finally broke down and bought a carbide toothed Rage chop saw and use stainless cutting 14" blades on it.
It cuts faster, cleaner, and a LOT cooler than the abrasive chop saws, and without sparks.

There is no dust with this saw. So it want trash your shop, or set things on fire.

For profiling, I gave up the band say years ago. With a strong grinder, I can profile a blade a heck of a lot quicker than on a band saw. Not to mention a lot cheaper.

A belt that doesn't cut quite right for grinding a blade can still have plenty of life in it for profiling. Kinda ends up being free. As otherwise, the belts would simply be thrown away.

I haven't tried the 36 grit Blaze belts. I'll have to give them a try. I usually just use worn 60 grit Blaze belts after they no longer cut fast and cool.
