Does anyone out there have a good reason to choose one of these knives over the other? I am having a tough time deciding...

Project I vs. Project II

I have them both and the P1 stays home most often. I like the narrower tip on the P2 for precise cutting, and it still chops as well as the P1.

I got the Project 1 and its smaller brother the Shadow IV because I figured the spear point was tougher should I ever have to pry something open. I do not plan on doing this but it could happen. I also thought if I had to stab into something hard with it, it might resist damage more as the point is more in line with the blade centerline. In truth, obviously its trick by CRK to get us to buy both the P-1 and P-2 and try and figure out which is best ourselves.

Hey Mike990, do you regularly use both the P1 and the Shadow IV? What makes you decide on one over the other??? Basically, what tasks do you reach for / carry your Shadow instead of your P1?

I have both and can best answer you question if I knew what you were planning on doing with the knife.
The P1's spearpoint, IMO, is better for stabbing/thrusting/penetration as a weapon and has a stronger tip for uses that are threatening to that part of the blade.
The shape of the P2 is more useful for most of what I use a knife for: food prep, slicing, spearing small items and fine cutting chores where a smaller knife would be better but a controllable large blade that is handle will also suffice.
Unless you are chopping with impact very near the tip (don't know why you would chop that way) I think they chop about equally.
I wind up actually using the P2 more. Then again, I am not a full time field soldier and I do not use either knife for the taks of soldiering or combat. If I did, I would likely choose the P1 over the P2.

Im not a Cutlery expert nor do I play one on TV. I can however, give you my take on this thing.
The Project I and the Project II are Identical knives with the exception of one thing. The Project I has a spear point and the Project II has a clip point.
Each knife point has its own niche. Spear points are designed with more strength and durability near the tip which gives them the ability to puncture and penetrate things like a hot knife through butter.
The clip point is strong however, it's designed more towards handling better when more delicate/detailed work and cutting is needed.
It's funny but, I just received my Project I in the mail this evening. God she's a piece of work!!
I personally chose the Project I over the Project II for serveral reasons.
Reason 1. Because im one of Uncle Sams Misguided Children. As you know, the Project I was designed by Chris in conjunction with Sgt. Karl Lippard USMC. The Project I is a knife designed and constructed for Marines as well as (other Combat Arms personnel, collectors etc) by a Master Knifesmith with direct input from a Marine who know's what hard use does to most knives.
Reason 2. I much prefer the stronger spear point tip for its penetration and puncturing ability.
Reason 3. PURE AESTHETICS!!!! The spearpoint looks totally sexy.

I have carried nothing but standard Ka-Bars as my main field knife...(on my 3rd one). I like the asthetics of the clip better, but I also know the 'truths' about the P1s design. I may just go with the P2 and whimper bitterly if I ever break its tip.

Rigormootis, I use the Shadow IV a lot more than the P-1, as its smaller and easier to carry. Mostly for utility tasks. Its low profile and is also good for field dressing deer. The P-1 is used more out in the woods when I want to chop some brush away, etc, and want to feel like a bad ass, but do not want to carry a really big 9-10 inch bowie.
