Project is proceeding slowly. I work an average of 50+ hours a week and therefore hobby project tend to proceed slowly for me. But that's good in sense that it gives lots of time for research and thought on next phase.
After attending a recent gunshow and talking in person w/some attending knifemakers, I decided not to use scales as I had planned for my handle. But rather go w/a block of hardwood.
Got a block of Diamond wood and have it drilled for the tang. Got tang ready to go. Got a wwod clamp w/slot cut for blade to hold it tight.
I intend to do most of the handle shaping prior to epoxying the handle onto the tang/blade for final finishing.
2 questions: When putting the expoxy in the tang hole, do you fill the hole up? Or leave room for epoxy to be displaced when the tang is inserted? My guess is you wouldn't want alot of epoxy spill over. About what is the formula on this?
And what commonly available (IE: Wal Mart or hardware store) epoxy would you recommend.
Thanks for any advice.
