Promised Manix 2 Pics/Mini Review

BTW.. the clips between the Endura and Manix 2 are exchangeable... :) Manix looks great with black, Endura Foliage Green FRN looks even better with uncoated...

Great review. Got mine yesterday, and on mine the grinds were very even and the knife actually whittled the occasional hair near the choil and tree topped arm hair along the whole edge. It carries great, has excellent ergos, and a similar edge thickness to the Original Manix but is of course thinner up the blade until the hollow grind ends at the saber. The spine starts thinner on the new model, but unlike the original doesn't have the full distal taper so the spine stays thicker all the way to the tip. I love the ball lock, and I open it by the thumb hole and close it by pulling the lock back and gently letting the knife tilt so the free swinging blade can close. Closed retention is good, and the lock is just tremendously solid. The knife has some heft with it's thick, undrilled liners but is lighter than the original. The knife feels incredibly strong and the fit and finish is impeccable. For $80 I can't think of a better value for a hard use folder with top line ergonomics.

I too would like to know how heavy it is? Is it like the Spyderco Caly 3? or like an Endura FRN? or like the Kershaw Zero Tolerance 0350?

Posted weights are:

Manix 2 - 5 oz
0350 - 4.8 oz
Para 3.75 oz (for comparison)

I haven't weighed my Manix 2 yet

thanks. oh wow, the Manix 2 is heavy. I find the 0350 heavy for office wear, but ok for weekend (jeans/cargoes).

Haven't weighed it myself yet, but the 4.8 ounce for the 0350 is generally touted as incorrect. I've seen mentioning on several e-tailers that the weight is 6.8 ounces. Next time I am in the kitchen, I'll weigh it and confirm.

I see where the ZT 0350 is listed at 6.2 ounces more than once . . .

I am slightly surprised. I just measured it on a kitchen scale. It's 5.8 ounces, which is lighter than any of the touted measures after people said there's no way it could be 4.something ounces.

hey eikowan, how do you like the blade length? I like using longer bladed knives like the E4. But I'm cool with the length of say my tenacious too. Blade length is just about my only reserve at the moment.
