Kristi told me they don't have a date yet.

Some of the choices on the sheath are odd to me:

Pouch sheath - but not a fold over design (I think to allow for a neck sheath option with the grommets)

Pouch sheath - but not a deep pouch sheath - the norm is deep pouch.

No firesteel loop - although one would be easy to add with the existing holes.

Internal Rivets - can snag blade tips.

Fold over back - but not contoured to a belt.

No dangler (although I could add one easily).

The good choices:

Good materials

Well sewn (as far as I can see)

A little fitting tooling done.

Solid

Looks like it should last a LONG time.

Pretty decent but really does not come up to the level of most of our custom makers. Probably more money too. JMO

Looks better than most customs.

Great job spyderco. I hope to se it in A2 steel and 3v in the future.

I will be getting one at least.

I should probably start a new thread but will see if I can get a quick answer here.

What is the advantage of that low grind on the bushcraft knives? No offense but I think it looks terrible. Not the Spyderco, it looks really well made, but the overall style of bushcraft knives.

Any info since I am pretty much in the dark on this?

Thanks!

Oh yes, I think that blade and I could get along quite well. Very nice! Excited for any future info on the release date and price.

Bushcraft knives are made for cutting efficiency and for fine carving so the low grind give you the ability to cut deeper with less force and also do fine carving that would not be possible with a more steeply ground knife.

That is the main reason for the scandi grind on them.

Just what I was thinking. There are many good bushcraft knives for sale right here on this board.

There are several custom makers, but not many doing scandi grinds and bread & butter bushcraft knives. Also not many that have the zero wait associated with a production knife.

Best not to call a loser before the horses are even out of the gate.

Not calling it a loser. Spyderco makes a very nice product. Just saying money spent with individuals here on the forums is always better in my opinion. Plus you can have it however you want it. Not so with a production knife. Sorry if I offended anybody.

No offense, but I'm actually glad to see that the sheath doesnt look like a direct rip-off of a JRE Industries/Sharpshooter "bushcraft sheath" (i.e. squared off bottom, firesteel loop, etc). I'm still not crazy about the MSRP, but I'm pretty sure Spyderco knows what they are doing when it comes to producing cutlery and it's accessories.

Any chance we could see some in hand pics with different grips?

Nice looking blade! I take it the hole is just for the spydie touch?
