I am an English speaker, never learned anything about Finnish. I assume "puukko" is a Finnish word. I googled it, and came to a youtube video, where it is pronounced like "POON - cow."

Hey red ! Here and I thought you knew EVERYTHING ! HFinn would know for sure but you already pooped in that pool ! I have no earthly notion but just like you I don't mind soiling a thread for my personal amusement . Anyway I love the sound of " POON-COW " . I might buy a cheap Finnish knife just so I could say that .

I'm perfectly satisfied with pronouncing it as "pooh-koh." Pooh as in "Winnie-the-Pooh," and koh as in "dough." With the accent on "pooh."

You don't have to pronounce it exactly like a person speaking Finnish, because you're speaking English not Finnish. Pronounce it well enough to get the point across, but don't try to use any phonemes that don't exist in the English language (unless you're actually trying to speak Finnish).

Warning for minor trolling. This is not Whine and Cheese.
Is the part out the back pronounced POON TANG?

To get the Finnish pronunciation, Google a translating/pronunciation site. Otherwise, I dare say almost anyone into knives (Finnish or not) will know what you mean when you say "poo-ko". :D

Damn, I got it first try. I can’t pronounce Asiago or cilantro, but puukko is no problem. Go figure. :)

In finnish, every letter is pronounced out loud.

Puu = kind of like the slang word "boo" but with harder P. There is no H in the sound, so it's not like "poo".
kko = very snappy, fast "go", but the g is pronounced hard like K letter.

In between Puu and kko there is slight pause; this is because there is to K letters.

This inspires me to make a video about this and to explain it further because I could not find a single video about it

One warning issued for minor trolling.
Keep the adult "humor" in Whine and Cheese.
