Off Topic Proof that anvil prices have gone insane

Collectors don't help it either. I know a few guys with literally hundreds of vises and anvils in their personal collections. I thought I was bad with a couple dozen vises....

I recently sold a bunch of RR track on Craigslist. Torch cut into 12" pieces and no cleanup done. I listed them for $50 a piece just to see if anyone would be willing to pay it. Damn things all sold instantly...

My real anvil is a 142# Peter Wright that my uncle paid $50 for at a farm auction probably 10 years ago. Gave it to my dad last year who in turn gave it to me.

I've used some nice big old anvils at the various museum shops I do demonstrations at. As much as I'd love something like the basically new old stock 475# Peter Wright at the one shop, I'll probably just order a new peddinghaus when I eventually want a bigger anvil.
