Not sure if this is the proper place but it does relate to outdoors. I've been wanting a 5lb propane tank for camping for a long time, well yesterday i found one for cheap but the valve has a quick release outlet valve, i cant seem to locate an adapter so that i cun run the standard hose to the tank. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a adapter? thans bro's

Not sure I'm envisaging exactly the thing you're after. I do know that Harbour Freight sells the thing to get the gas from big propane bottles to top up the small camping burner bottles so perhaps have a peek there. http://www.harborfreight.com/

the valve on the tank has a fitting that looks exactly like the ones found on air compressor. It has a brass sleeve that you slide back and a male plug comes off. What i am looking for is the adapter that fits the brass sleeve that will be able to run the standard hoses that are normally used for stoves, heaters, lanterns e.t.c., thanks though for the link.

I don't believe I've seen a quick disconnect fitting on explosive gas tanks.

They don;t belong on propane tanks...someone put it on there, but it should work well enough. Any hardware store (including Home Depot or Lowes) will have the quick-disconnects you are seeking. You may have to buy a set (male/female), maybe, but look for them near the barbeque grills. They are sold for hooking up natural gas BBQs.

You might try an RV store. They are used on RVs and campers. I can't say for a fact, but I don't believe they are the same as the compressed air fittings.

You're right. They look similar to compressed air fittings, but the internal seals are quite different.

Yes, the nat gas connects are different.... I'm guessing the ones for air would leak or, at least, they're not interchangeable.
