Hi, I want to try making a knife, I will use the stock removal technique. i don't have a charcoal grill so I was wondering if I can heat the stock with a potable propane grill, the one will the plumbers bottles thanks

Potable propane ... hmmmm, sounds like something that would really get you high!

Any heat source that will heat the steel to around 1500F will work. A portable grill running off disposable bottles will likely not get that hot.

There are plenty of makes in NY and the surrounding area. Perhaps one can offer you a shop visit to do the HT.
