Damn, I just got one of my 100# tanks filled and they are getting $4.05 @ gallon.:jerkit::jerkit::jerkit:

Yup it is all going up.. Coal may be viable again soon. But then I am looking into waste oils too.

Daggum IG!!!
That's really a gyp when you consider propane is just a bi-product of refining oil and natural gas which, they have to do to make the useful things they screw us over with anyway! Sheesh!

Yep that and butane is just the crap of the refineries. Yet we get screwed on getting their waste. Most places pay to get rid of hazardous wastes, yet we pay them...something is just not right.

Time to hook some tubing to your ass...with all that relish and Portugese food, I'm sure you could yield enough methane to forge-weld all summer long. :D

I've been thinking about going waist oil. Propane is just over $3.00 a gallon here. Have you noticed the new $5.00 bills? Besides saying its a silver note it also says "Good for one gallon of gas".

I'd consider getting one. Watch waste oil start coming with a price tag.

Perhaps, but trading off a knife to your supplier of waste oil would go a long way to ensuring it's price ;) I've got a local restraunt that wants me to pick it up from them, they have to pay to get it dumped right now. I need to get a transfer pump and some 55 gal barrels.

Or induction. That may be my next big expensive toytool. No bottles to go empty and wrestle around filling. Won't heat my shop up in the summer. And power in my neck of the woods is still fairly cheap. No insulation, blower or refractory to replace.

I'm thinking of making charcoal and giving that a try. I have access to lots of scrap hardwood, not to mention waste shipping palletes. Also thinking about waste oil for burners, AND for making biodiesel with. Labor intensive, but then again so is forging:D I have that damned biodiesel idea every time I pass a gas station. Price of fuel, and being "enslaved" to it, is really starting to piss me off!

Actually I work in a refinery and Butane and Propane now get reformed to make high Octane gasoline. You swirl them together in a reactor with 99% sulfuric acid and the reform to make the high Octane used for blending. It used to be a byproduct.

^ Yes, which is why it's so ironic to hear the complaining here. So really, you guys should be paying a ton more for your gas, and my gasoline should be free.

(Actually, the proper way to look at it is that gasoline USED to be useless, until someone found a use. The same goes for propane/butane. Thus they aren't "waste products" any more than gasoline is, and obviously you place a value on the use of them, so they should cost money.)

I just got my 100 pound tank a couple of weeks ago, so for me, even at the current high prices, it is still cheaper than the 20 pound grill bottles I was getting at HD or the convenience store when I was desperate...yipe!!!
