Greetings,
Within the past couple months I have been acquiring different types of Rose and Iron woods and Ebony for scales. Mostly all the boards are 1" to 2" thick and in different lengths and widths.

Any storage advice (other then relocating them to your shop)? Is there any advantage of cutting them into scales or should they be left at the current lengths?

Regards,
Dennis

no advice from me, but i do know they are gunna ask you if it is kiln dried ,air dried, still green and if you live in a different climate than where it came from.

If it is green you will need to cut the ends down to fresh wood.
Then wax the end.If it is all ready dried I take an old frige put a light bulb in the bottom of it.Then place my wood on the shelfs.I drill a small hole on each side of the frige to let the morture out.The hole size is about 3/8

Good question. The Mun and Black & White ebony is air dried, and the rose woods are kiln dried.

Half the iron wood was stored in a shop for over 10 years. The other half was just received with no history. Can iron wood be green?

Dennis
