Received my UKPK today and I have to say I am very impressed.

This is a solid light weight knife with excellent design. And just like my Caly3, this thing is a cutting machine.

I really like the low-profile clip and light weight feel of this knife, I can hardly tell it's in my pocket, I already left it in my pants and almost washed it.:D

S30V steel and it being made in the U.S.A. were selling points for me as well.

I EDC a waved Delica 4 and a Caly3 and I can tell you this knife is definitely going into the rotation.

I am afraid I may have to get more of these, most likely in the alternate Orange and Foilage Green

Excellent work Spyderco!

Rob I also just received the UKPK, with the Orange scales.
I love it! as you say its very light to carry and of course scalpel sharp.
I do not see any reason to fear it closing on the user. as long as your finger is on the choil, its not going to bite. I feel just as secure using the UK as my Caly.
I most definitely will be ordering the green model as well.
Also once you get the hang of it, its very easy to open and close one handed.

Peace,

Dave

Looks like a winner to me! Light high performance cutting machine, with no extra bull. Just everything you need in urban EDC. Before I get one I am waiting on a top side spine shot.

Is there a spring in there like a slippie, or is it open like the Sage? People talk about it being a lot lighter than a Caly 3, I am wondering where the weight savings is?

Do you have a back spine shot? :D

It's a slip joint, Spyderco describes it as a "notched joint at the blades pivot"

It has a very tight lockup too, 20lbs of pressure is needed to disengage

It took me a couple tries to figure out how to close it one handed, it's that firm

The majority of the weight savings I assume is because it's linerless and missing traditional locking mechanisms

I will have more pics up soon, this one is in my top 3 Spydies now

I don't have any spine shots, but the spring is just like a traditional slipjoint, full length. There is no opening on the spine. It does not have any liners (the spring gives it plenty of stiffness).
