pro's and con's of the Sebenza?

I hear they're great knives. Wish I had one! I wonder what my wife would say if another toy arrived on the doorstep

Hi, I have yet to find ANYONE that has had a
Sebenza for a while that does not like it. True they are expensive and they have a utilitarian look to them. But for form function and design they are practically flawless. I personally like the old original style handles with the thicker scales than the new design or the classic. I like the more aggressive look of the old design , particularly the blade style.(That's me) Some knife people prefer the new design. I like it too, but I like the old better. Cya, JC

Shawn,

Thank you for that post about your tour of CRK. It convinced me to buy that Sebenza. I truly appreciate it. I have been following this post for a while and was at odds over whether to spend the $$'s on a great knife or buy something else that I would probably trade off later down the road.

It seems to me that the pros far out weigh the cons when it comes to this knife. Then again, I feel most of this is personal opinion and has very little merit until one handles and uses the knife ( any knife for that matter)in the manner that they intend to use it. There is no real "perfect" knife, every knife has a flaw here or a flaw there and we learn to live these minor things. If there was a perfect kife then this hobby wouldn't be fun at all.

Everything was pretty much said. Let me just add one maybe unimportant thing. Because of the "plain looks" I was able to take my small Sebbie through many airports without a blink from the security people.

Oh, and there was a question about comparison of Sebenza and BM Pinnacle. Well, Pinnacle is a great knife, but doesn't fill as solid as Sebenza.

CRKT at one time made an integral lock - S2. Also a great knife but also not of the same quality as Sebenza.

It is easy to make a judgement that something should be $100 cheaper, but let's see it folks, good craftmanship comes at price. And if it really should be that new technology will allow to achieve it cheaper, then hey, better for us.
