Pros/Cons of rehandling a Northwoods Forest Jack

Hi All,

I'm the proud new owner of a Northwoods Forest jack with jigged bone covers. One of the last ones available this year, in fact. I love almost everything about this knife, but the covers aren't doing it for me, and I'm thinking I'd like it better with maybe micarta or wood covers.

I've never had a knife modified. Does anyone around here do this kind of work? How much would it cost, and what are the pros and cons?
