Hey guys, what in you opinion are the pros vs cons of the spanto blade shape? Searching turns up hundreds of for sale posts :p. Thanks!

I would say the advantage is a stronger tip, which can be a plus in prying activities and penetrating materials. The disadvantage is that you give up some cutting/slicing performance.

I would say this pretty much nails it. I use my Spanto a good bit for cutting off edges of shipping labels and it does fine but it will not work as well as a Spyderco Para Military II. The difference is I am rough on my knives and have yet to be able to tip a Spanto.

Well I like the spanto because of the stronger tip, but it just looks great to me. Hollow ground blade with a reinforced tip? Count me in!

A major con is that you'd have a blade called a "spanto."
