Protecting Double cut blades from rust

I use sentry solutions tuf glide on most of my knives. And guns too for that matter especially before storage. On the other hand my kitchen knives are all satin and other than soap and water or the occasional ride through the dish washer require no care.

Hello. I bought a Busse custom shop ASH-1 LE user last week here @ BF. ( I don't really know what the word user is implying since I'm a newbie to Busse knives). It's a double cut finish but was sharpened to a convex edge by "Ban" ( I don't know who they are either)
I love the shape of Busse ASH knives, and in fact it is what attracted me to it. However the knife has two shades in it...satin along the edge of the knife, resulting, I was told from sharpening, and the DC finish of the rest. I don't know if I should have it um..treated back to DC? (by the way what is BB?). I like the sharpness and the convex edge of the blade...just not having two shades on it. I appreciate any thoughts, ladies and gentlemen.

By the way, about the rust spots..I saw a couple on mine and I used the oil called Ballistol, which is primarily used on firearms.

So, what makes the double cut more susceptible to rust than the satin knives?

I suspect it is that there is ever so slightly more texture on a DCBB blade that allows water to cling to where satin is very smooth, almost polished with less surface area for water to sit. That and there is zero chance of any of the decarb layer remaining with satin, unlike DCBB.

Ban Tang is a knifemaker who started doing some modifications to Busse knives before bringing out his own line. He has a website here: http://www.bantangknives.com/ I love the fact that his maker's mark is a visual palindrome. Very cool design.

DCBB stands for Double Cut Bead Blast. It combines a cutting bead blast with a peening bead blast to refine the surface and give it a smoother matte finish. There are posts on here that include the "recipe" but I was too lazy to search for them. Look under my username.

I use BreakFree CLP (CLean/Lubricate/Protect) to protect blades from rust -- works great. It's also an excellent lube.
