Like many of us, this year will be my first Blade Show in Atlanta. Can some of you veterans lend your advice on how/whether to carry/wear/display our knives both inside the show and in the Atlanta area in general? I don't think any of us want to unintentionally violate any rules, written or otherwise! (Some groups just wear silly hats.We happen to tote knives!)

I think Alanta has a 3" limit on blade length within city limits. The show itself is outside of the city so that's not a problem.

Lots of folks are walking around with a bunch of blades. The authorities are well aware of the Show. I am sure if folks don't act stupid with their wares in public, there won't be a problem.

I spent 9 months in Atlanta and had no problem with 4 inch BM AFCK. I also didn't attract the attention of the local police. YMMV

If you are around the Blade Show itself and local businesses, I would not be overly concerned. Last year there was a lot of steel in plain sight.

When you sit down for dinner and/or a beer worrying about a 4 or 5 inch knife and, you see someone pull out a huge Bagwell Bowie, this whole issue takes on a different perspective.

Stay Sharp,
Sid

I've been to the Blade Show a few times and you will see people carrying around all kinds of stuff in the show. I've not heard of anybody having any troubles in the show. Some friends of mine and I got some weird looks at a restaurant in the center when we started passing a tomahawk and a couple of beautiful bowies around the table. Nobody said anything though.

Them:"What's that clipped to your pocket, a beeper?"
Me:"Uuh....yeah, something like that."

The BF dinners at last year's show were a sight to behold. Knife knuts pretty much took over a local restaraunt each night after the show closed, and they (we) were not afraid to pull out their latest acquisitions for all to see. You can bet that my 15" Caffrey san-mai damascus bowie that I'll be picking up at the show will be passed around!
