Prototype JKM-1

Yvsa,

I believe you got that right when you said James would've been proud of the JKM-2.

That knife was calling to me all night on Saturday, and Uncle Bill, Ray and I hoisted a few in James' memory.

What makes it even more special is that Uncle Bill and Yangdu made the knife a gift to me, even after I had offered them my Ganga Ram in exchange. Special people and not a gesture I'm likely to ever forget.

And of course you're right. You need one.

I love my little JKM-1.

I think that I will have to get one of the JKM-2. Who ever said that you can have too many knives?

The jkm-2 is very exiting. The only thing that needed a little improving was the handle. I love the new design. Question: will the jkm-2 handle be bigger? One thing about puukkos is that they have big comfortable handles. The jkm-1 has a 3 finger grip. The top picture shows the jkm-1 and a couple puukkos. The bottom picture is a kumar karda and big puukko. For blade I prefer the HI knives but handlewise the puukos are superior (for now, I hope!)

As you can see from the pictures of the JKM-2 above, the new handle is outstanding. The wood has one of the nicest "oiled" finishes I've felt in some time.

If you like puukkos, you'll love this knife.

I have to agree with the suggestion for bigger handles. I'd like to see them on the kagas katnes too. Do the kamis have smaller hands than me, or just much stronger index fingers? :^)
