Prototype Pics....

As I said in the other thread I like the over all design of the knife. I like recurves but find some hard to sharpen on flat stones. It's great to see that you got a design out there, Congrats!!

Any idea as to when we will see it in stores? Thanks,

Heber

When is the anticipated release?

I'm thinking that I've got to have one.

Very nice looking design, and I am a recurve fan, so you're hitting on all cylinders.

Chuck

Thanks Chuck, I'm glad you like the design, I hope you like the knife. It should be available in a couple of weeks.

Wow! Mist, that is so cool. I've never been a big fan of recurved blades, but I like that one. Any idea of what the price point will be when it comes out?

Thanks Bob!! I'm glad you like it, I tried not to make the recurve to deep so that it could easily be sharpened with a dianond or ceramic rod.

I could only guess about price at this point though I guess I need to ask what their thoughts are on it.

That's Great MistWalker, Congrat's on getting your design In as a Production Knife from a Big Company, Great Job I like It !

Thanks S.D., and I appreciate the compliment.

Once again thank you, I will try to find out about the MSRP.

Well..I just got a message back from Morgan,

The msrp is going to be about $67.00...about what I had expected.

and is is apparently going to come in a "very nice tactical sheath" which means it could be in one similar to the Combat Master as they have used one similar before for a knife of similar dimensions, but then again that was a year ago and I could be way off...still not sure yet.

I applaud you MW.
I have often thought about knife design, actually, I'd love to design knives.
It makes me happy to see you get your wish and do what you love.

Keep it up.

The knife ain't bad, either.

Thanks man, I appreciate that. It's a cool feeling actually seeing my name on one. I can't wait to see it in a store somewhere, I can't wait to try one out. I hope people like using it.

Hey mistwalker do you have a pic of that combat master sheath?

Bryan

I don't have a pic of an actual Combat Master...though there are several on the forums who use them. I do have a pic of a sheathe Schrade used once before that is similar, and this is the one I expect to see this knife in...however I could be wrong and they could have designed a completely different sheath for it. I designed the knife to fit in a Combat Master.

The price is really reasonable, are they goign to produce it as designed, or will there be variations along the way?
Either way, I will be getting one.

They are going to produce it as in the top picture in the thread with the pics. I drew out a couple of other design variations... but I still have those. No-one has even seen those yet.

I hope you like it. I like the Kraton but I also want to mod one or two with different handle materials.

Mistwalker how would one of them sheaths work for a Warthorn? I would want to change the retention strap to the way I have them on the leather sheaths though. I do not cut my retaining strap at all LOL.

Well...actually the Combat Master Sheath by Spec-Ops should work fine for it. They are a "universal" type sheath system made for most tactical knives, and come in different lengths. The warthorn balde design should work fine in one. I think the Combat Masters come with a "doubled-material" retention strap...that may be reinforced between the layers. They seem to be well thought out if I remember right. But for the price they should be made pretty well.

The reinforcement that you are thinking of may be the velcro that is used to adjust the length of the retention strap. They use this so that the end user can adjust the fit of the strap to positively retain whatever type of knife is placed in the sheath. They are supposed to be jumpable.

As far as modding the handle, YES, that idea came to me as soon as I saw the knife. I wasn't gonna say it though because I didn't want to dampen your pride in having your design produced by a manufacturer. I will buy two of them and keep one original and mod one most likely.:D

Chuck,

Thanks for being polite, but I am far too pragmatic, think far too realistically, and have modded way to many mass produced products in my day to ever think I could design something to please all. One of the thoughts that went into this design was to make it easy to remove unwanted features because removing a protrusion you don't want is much easier than adding one you do want.

Thats not a problem, I'm kind of stoked that you are getting your design manufactured, thats really outstanding:thumbup:

To be honest, the Kraton may be fine as wine, I was only thinking that "Hey some nice wood scales on there would be the bees knees". Just my can't leave well enough alone side coming out:D

Yeah, I'm pretty stoked too!

That's the reason I wanted it bolted, I know people have their own handle prefs, and wanted that to be an option on this knife. I have one of those sides too.
