Here is the prototype for my soon to be a reality, Framelock Folder. I just did an aluminum blade on this one. This particular one has a 4 1/2" handle, and a 3 1/2" blade. The plan is to make them in two sizes, the other one with a 4" handle and 3" blade. The handle slabs are 1/8" thick titanium. The pivot pin and stop pin are both 1/4" stainless, and it`s held together with 8-32 stainless button head screws.

These will be available with two different handles. Both sides can be 1/8" titanium, or the framelock side can be titanium and the other side G10, as shown below.

And I thought you were just pulling our legs when you said titanium framelock! That looks awesome!

Would it have a thumb stud?

That looks sweet John. I'd probably be interested in one of those!
When are you thinking production time and $$?

I`m thinking I`ll probably have all the "bugs" worked out this month. Price will probably be around $225 - $250. There`s a lot more work involved in making one of these compared to a fixed blade.

WOW!! You weren't kidding John...that is a very cool looking "project" you've been working on. That folder looks awesome:thumbup::thumbup:

Keep in mind that this is just the first prototype, the finished version will feature bronze washers on both sides of the blade, which will make it a hair thicker. Also, I`m surprised that nobody noticed that I built this one backwards, the lock should be on the other side.

They're just aren't enough frame locks on the planet. Thanks for adding an awesome one.

I`m thinking I will probably have one done before the end of the month, I ordered all the materials this morning. :D

Very cool John! Looking forward to seeing the finished product. The blade shape is very nice. What do you think about an edge bevel on the scales and a brushed finish? Any ideas for a pocket clip?

Scales will be beveled, and they will have a satiny brushed finish. Still in the air on the pocket clip, drilling and tapping those tiny holes have me a bit worried, but who knows!

That's a great idea. I will certainly be up for one. Especially if it can be made "wrong" handed.

Hi John -

I am in for one.

Sending email.

best regards -

That's a pretty cool idea, John--those asymmetrical frame locks seem to be popular nowadays!

I'm still waiting to see slipjoints from you, though ;)

Hey John,
What colors are you going to offer for the G10?
Man........we just spent the last 3 months moving and fixing up a new house. This one would be tight I think but I really want one of these.
Tempt me my friend :)
