proxy buying

It really depends on the relationship you have with that person. Personally, I'd feel uncomfortable asking someone who I don't entirely trust and/or if that someone didn't entirely trust me. I recently asked Trevor (KnifeHunter) to proxy for me and the awesome guy that he is -- he gladly accepted (wasn't cheap too). However, Trevor knows that he and his family are always welcome to stay at my place if they ever visit Los Angeles. We also have business discussions and we stay in touch. The point I'm trying to make is that if you ask people to proxy for you when you don't really have any relationship with them -- not only is it risky, but it's a little rude. The reason why I think it's rude is because you're putting good people in an uncomfortable position where they might feel obligated to help you out because of their good nature when in fact the person asking for a proxy hasn't done anything for the person they're asking this big favor from. Moral of the story is don't be douche, don't put people in an uncomfortable position by taking advantage of their kindness, and don't feel entitled to have people go through the financial risk and hassle of helping you out when you haven't done anything for them. This is of course just my opinion and granted -- I'm really big on consideration, kindness, and respect. However, as always --- to each their own.

Great post Rob_Mob. ^^ Couldn't agree more.

So umm Jaxx --- I'd like to get my hands on 27 Custom MOABS --- you got me covered right?

Now Jaxx has you covered, lol :D :D

Umm...your kidding, right?

People buy guns as gifts all the time or if they see a gun that a friend (who can legally own it)is looking for, they can buy it and sell it to them.

Can't buy gun for prohibited persons

http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/supreme-court-tightens-definition-straw-purchase
Legal to buy as gift or buy and sell to someone who can legally own it.
In this ruling the uncle paid before purchase so was technically a straw purchase.

Not sure how straw purchase applies to knives.

Thanks Rob n Jaxx

Sure thing brother!

Somehow Jaxx always gets the better end of the deal --- the man is a negotiating genius! Somehow he'll agree to Proxy for me . . . But before it's all said and done -- he'll end up with my knives, my car, and my condo. Then he'll give me the boot.

Hahahahahahaha! Must be like investing, have to have money to make money.

"You have to have knives to get knives"

Thanks everyone. I've learned quite a lot about even considering this process.

Giving this process, and the proxy buyer the respect they deserve are first priority.

Totally makes sense.

Thanks again fellas!

I will chime in as I have handled many orders from proxies and let me tell you all it is not as difficult as you may think. This example works for shows where Busse employees are present.

1. If you find someone that will proxy for you, let them know exactly what you want and try not to change your mind on them or ask for dozens of pictures. If you make things frustrating for your helpful volunteer, they likely won't offer to be helpful again.

2. When the proxy does obtain the knife desired he simply hands it to a Busse employee and says, "This is for John Smith, here is his e-mail address and phone number." We take it back to the shop with us and contact John for his shipping address and payment information. He pays, we ship, and its a done deal. If it turns out John Smith no longer wants the knife, nobody is out of any money we have the knife and all is well.

3. Send a nice gift to your proxy...chocolates, booze or booze filled chocolates. Definitely express gratitude because fighting the trough at shows is not a cake walk. If the proxy isn't able to score the knife that was wanted then no hard feelings, sometimes things just don't play out the way it is hoped.

Hope that helps!
