pruning shears?

Looks like Leatherman makes a few different models of shears. Didn't know that. Neato!

Count me in the Felco camp. Carried #7's for years. Have #22 loppers that are monsters! Pruners are handy while fishing/hunting to quietly clear around an area to cast or shoot. Have heard of snipers carrying them for the same reasons.

I mainly carry them while hunting. They are great for clearing shooting lanes and removing branches where I hang my treestand. I also use a folding saw attached to a stick for high reach branch removal.

If you do decide to buy a pair and want the best on earth, get a pair of Okatsune pruners. They're a lifetime tool that makes Felco's feel like junk and should run around $50 if you can find them.

To each his own, I have owned dozens of pruners and the best ones that work for me are Felco pruners. I use to work in wholesale plant nurseries and our entire outside field guys used Felco’s including the propagators. If you go to the retail box stores, you will see the Felco 2 being copied by Corona and other no name brands. That says a lot to me.

There are two types , one has two sharpened blades , best for green wood. The other has one sharp blade and one anvil , best for dry wood.

2 blade is a by pass type and the one blade is called an anvilshears. I bought some felco knockoffs at ace a few years back for $10 or $12 a pair each kind works better than the other in certain places, they are rated to cut up to 3/4ths of an inch branch.

i love them, very handy.
