PS3 or XBox360?

The disk spins 10 times faster than the old x-box and the disk is really close to the eye so vibration is your enemy. There is a small design problem, but its not a piece of crap. You just have to treat it with respect and it will last forever.

The 360 has its problems, but if I were making the choice, I'd go 360 all the way. So far there has been nothing on ps3 that's interested me enough to even consider buying one. Final Fantasy 13 may change that, but I kinda doubt it.

I'm happy with my Wii though. May not have top of the line graphics, but it's just fun.

ff13 is being released march 2010 on xbox, u have no reason to switch!

I would highly suggest getting the ps3 for several reasons. The graphics will almost always be a little bit better. You are getting a blu-ray player included, which you will definatly enjoy with the high def tv you said you plan on purchasing. While there are exclusives for both systems you will find that most games now are available on both platforms. Why wouldn't a developer want the income from both platforms? Online attributes are free, although not as nice as a 360 live session but then again, live is like $70 a year? NO thanks microsoft! I love my ps3. It is the old 80 gig but it serves as a media center, a way to surf the web, play games, chat with friends, play movies and last but not least, play MW2. :P

EDIT: edited to say that failure rates on the 360 are 75% i think, if not higher. So when you buy that expect the RED RING OF DEATH. aka that $100 microsoft tax

I have both. The Xbox 360 mine crapped 3 times but I have a warrenty and got it replaced . A pain but they are suppose to have a better power sorce and cool better now. I just run a usb fan with it to keep it cool. I like a few games better on Xbox. Xbox live is $50 a year and is 10 times better than playing the game alone. But if you will never play online the Ps3 has Bluray for movies that looks good and upscales dvd pretty good. The games don't look better imo. My TV is 1080P. If your a game Xbox live is the best gaming experiance $50 a year =less than $5 a month and you will get free maps and game upgrade which is worth it alone. Playing never online Ps3. Unless you like shooter which Xbox has Halo and Gears of War. Every else is the same IME

I'm definitely not one to take sides in the console wars, or even to defend MS, but I simply don't get this statement. When my 360 got the red ring, I didn't have to pay a cent- not even for shipping. And MS sent me two months worth of xbox live subscription for my trouble.

Yup mine was all free also. I have both. Even after the ring of death I still prefer Xbox just because of Live

I really appreciate all the feedback everyone,Thanks :)

I'm going with the PS3

Any specific reason why? I have both (and just about every other console and handheld from the past 10 years), so I'm always interested to hear why someone chooses one over the other.

I didn't really see a lot of mentions about what types of games you play. Any particular genre you like a lot? I know that each system definitely has its strengths in certain genres of games.

This is why I chose the PS3,
I'm used to the controllers,the blue-ray player,free online gaming(just in case),faster frame-rates,better graphics,& doesn't break down as much as the XB.

I'm mostly into FPS,& the occasional third person like Metal Gear & GTA.I've tried out XB's HALO & honestly I wasn't impressed.I liked Killzone better. Now there is or going to be a KZ2.I just HAVE to check that out!

If 1st person shooters is what you like than there is no better experience then playing Modern Warfare II on Xbox live. PERIOD. You cant judge based on HALO becuase HALO is GHEYLO.

You did mention one thing that is a very good argument and it isn't the blueray...(i dont know why people use this as an argument. Just buy a blueray player. I'd never use my game platform to run movies. Its way to hard on them.) Your best argument is Metal Gear. The new metal gear is supposed to be so advanced that it used every bit of memory and speed that the PS3 has to offer. Its supposed to be a very advanced game. Nothing else out there like it as of yet and the 360 couldn't run it even if they were given a chance.

How many people can see see the diff between Blu Ray and normal DVD if they wern't side by side? Does everyone that has a PS3 have a full HD setup or is there a limiting factor or bottleneck someplace? Probably the latter.

Do you think disks are a step forward, meaning BR will be the next gen of disks, or like me, do you think disks are a step to the side as broadband becomes faster and cheaper and storage on disks bigger and cheaper. Surely it sounds the death knell for this kind of media.

It will be about a year I guess, but we will soon be seeing pocket portable hard drives with 1TB, or better yet still solid state with good sizes (100's of gigs)

Topic drift I know, but since the OP had made his choice I just wondered if you guys had any thoughts on disks in general.

I can tell the difference between Blu Ray, regular DVD and upscaled DVD. I have a Pioneer Bluray the Ps3 looks pretty good next to it. The PS3 games don't look better than the Xbox games if you compare the same games. The Ps3 network sucks. But like I said before if you never play online the Ps3 would be good. I think disc will always be there. They make more $$ than downloading games. And ppl like to collect. But the format will change it always does when better things come out or they need to make more $$
