PSA: Benchmades' are really, really sharp. (Hospital trip)

what a coincidence...I just got my first set of stitches ever (22 years) cuz of a freshly sharpened Victorinox SAK. I wasn't exactly prying, but when the random thing i was cutting gave way, I sliced right into my left index finger and have a nice set of three stitches. I plan on cutting them off myself...hmm, I'll probably use my SAK for just that...full circle. I'll take pics if I remember.

Not a Benchmade...but my best friend (honest) sliced off the tip of his finger with an Emerson CQB-7 I gave him for Christmas a couple years ago. Brand new right out of the box. He said he didn't even feel the cut until he noticed the blood gushing out of his thumb. Now, he says he can tell when it's going to rain because the new tip starts to tingle.

I've got the dryed piece he gave me somewhere. Weird gift, I know but he thought I should have it.

Best thing was he did it the same day I gave it to him. I told him he's only allowed round-tipped, kiindergarten scissors from now on.

Ares,
Tradition says that when giving a sharp object, one should receive in return a penny.

So you didn't get a penny and got a piece of finger instead.

Sounds like a fair trade to me.:D

We should probably make sure his guns are stored securely ... and out of his reach! :D

NAWWWW .........

Just take the ammo away.

Then about the worst would be a lump on the head or, a recoil spring to the eye.

But that NEVER happens ..... much.

Rob

feel for you man - i got a busse batac a few weeks ago - and promptly took it out to play with in the woods... as the piece of wood i was working on got smaller - i ended up slicing through my thumb where i was holding onto the wood. i made a nice flap of skin on my knuckle and took out a pretty good sized divot of skin just under that. the divot was so deep it was white on the bottom - still not sure if it was bone or cartilage or what... anyways the skin has finally grown back, but it is still a couple of shades of pink lighter than the rest of my finger!

Great pics mike, those look like mine a year ago:D . Nothing like cutting yourself REAL bad to let you know just how sharp you get your knives;)

I still have no feeling in the tip of my right finger from the last time, cut it to the bone and damaged a nerve....GREAT STUFF!

Yikes. Been there...

If I am playing around at my computer or prying I use an Atwood prybaby or Keyton. I don't play with knives unless they get my full attention. And I don't carry an open or unsheathed blade on the stairs anymore...

Tell your buddy to keep it clean and use the Neosporin...heals faster and keeps inflamation down...
