Many of us like to share with others assorted tools, techniques and projects.
While definitely less important :) , we also shoot occasional videos of family etc .

In recent years, the good ole tape (Super 8, Mini DV) is being replaced by all-digital,
straight-to-flash-memory camcorders.

Just few months ago, a brand new and extremely affordable yet very capable camcorder
has been released. After using one for a few months, I have to give 2 very enthusiastic
thumbs up :

Buy it @ your local Wmart .

The thing shoots high def (!), can store something like 18 hours of HD video on a
32 GB card (16GB is plenty good @ ~8 hrs, cost about $55).

It also works as a decent photo camera (5Mpix). Has a macro mode so you can shoot
itsy spiders from 2" away - both video and stills. It gets better: it has an external video=audio in jack, so you can hook it up to your VCR, Super 8, any source of Y-R-L
signal and turn that into digital recording (a file).

Comes with everything you need, including all the wires,a nice micro-tripod and a remote !
It uses super-common NP60 batteries ($5 on ebay).

The camera is instant-on. No moving parts ! Super-small and ultra-light !

At this point folx are wondering - is there a catch and what is it ? Well, you need to have
a decent/recent PC to view the files . 400 Mhz Pentium Pro won't cut it (no pun intended).

So there you have it folx. Next time, as you about to start a new project and think to yourself how nice it'd be to document and share the whole thing, only to shrug it off
as too troublesome, grab this gem, put it on a tripod next to ya and let it document whatcha doing . And did I mentioned the family videos ? :)
