Alright, I'm looking for a second, third, forth and so on oppinion of which knife to go with here. After much consideration I have narrowed my search down to one of these knives.
1.) Camillus U.S. Pilot Survival Knife (with metel tipped sheath) [$35]

Blade: 5 (12.7cm)
High carbon 1095 steel blade

Saw back edge
Hardened hexagonal steel butt for hammering
Steel guard pierced with 2 holes for lacing on shaft to make a spear
Built-up leather washer handle
Leather sheath with protected metal tip
Riveted for strength
Carborundum stone in snap closing pocket
Leg tie cord.
Made by Camillus Cutlery.
Shipping Weight: 0.81 lb / 0.37 kg
2.) RANGER KNIVES® ASSAULT KNIFE R.A.K [$70]
Length: Overall, 117/8"
Blade Length- 5¾"
Thickness: 3/16
Steel: 1095
Made in USA.
Shipping Weight: 0.50 lb / 0.23 kg
I am using this knife primarily in a backpacking role. To me it seems that the PSK is a heavier knife, which would help in choping. I like the saw back on it, since I can save some wear on the blade by utalizing this feature instead of the blade all the time. Also the large pummel will allow me to drive tent stakes into the ground. The fact that the SAK comes with a stone and the RAK does not isn't really an issue since I can back pack a stone seperately. From what I have read the Ranger knife will hold a sharper edge than the PSK and it will hold it longer. The ranger knife is better ballanced as a thower, but I'm not sure how often if ever that will be relevant. Basically what I'm looking for here is if you were going on a week long or a month long backpacking venture, which one would you take with you and what would the advantage be in taking one over the other.
Thanks in advance for everyones thoughts.
